An estimated 244.6 million mobile workers by 2015

In the next few years we will continue to see more and more workers setting up their offices at home. According to a report by IDC, the global market intelligence company, the worldwide mobile work force will rise to over 1.3 billion people by 2015 – 37.2% of the world’s overall work force.

The main reasons behind this expected growth come from the increased popularity of products such as smartphones and apps that allow workers to be productive from anywhere with an Internet connection.

According to the report, the biggest growth is expected to occur in Asia, lead by India and China. However, Europe, the Middle East and Africa are expected to see a growth from 186.2 million mobile workers in 2010 to 244.6 million in 2015.
